Funding Secured: Now What?

Walking Tree Wisdom Weekly

Hello Reader,

Got Funding? Congratulations!

Your solution has gained traction in the market, but until now, you had limited resources and capital to support your growth initiatives.

Now, you secured funding!

Excitement is followed by feeling overwhelmed by the number of projects that need to be accomplished and the ROI you need to achieve.

Hiring new employees can add to the chaos with so much to manage. You know you are not ready to scale.

Take a deep breath.

While you have made data-driven decisions, focused on practical solutions, and embraced continuous learning, there are several factors that contribute to your organization not being ready to scale:

  • Limited resources
  • Inefficient processes
  • Risk aversion to scaling
  • Resistance to change
  • Need for additional market validation

Sound familiar?

First things, first

Don’t worry, while achieving readiness to scale does not happen overnight, there are key things you can do today to prepare your team.

1. Communicate.

Funding brings excitement and uncertainty. Your team likely has questions about their future. Address their concerns openly, providing answers to questions that may arise at their dinner tables:

  • Will another person be hired over me?
  • Will I be asked to do a role I don’t want?
  • How will my work environment change?

2. Align.

Connect your new objectives with existing and future work. Explain how initiatives contribute to the broader picture, ensuring everyone understands their role in the journey ahead.

3. Document.

Standard operating procedures are vital. They don’t hinder creativity but rather provide a framework to follow when one is overwhelmed, unfamiliar with the task, or needs a reminder.

Given the most probable hiring increase, identify the key processes that all new team members must learn and understand. Focus on documenting those processes first to create an accessible guide.

What is next?

While organic processes may work for small teams, well-designed operations are essential for scaling up your organization’s capabilities. However, don’t prioritize process optimization just yet. For now, focus on communication, alignment, and documentation to reassure your team.

Give yourself a moment to enjoy this milestone and recharge.

Next, we will discuss how to prepare to scale…

See you next week!

All the best,

Eloisa

Walking Tree Wisdom Weekly Hello Reader, Finding a sports camp that would help my kids improve as athletes had been a challenge. But this week, the breakthrough finally arrived. Nestled within a 40-minute drive from home, I found the training discipline and methodology that would help Sofi, my oldest daughter, improve as a volleyball player. What set this camp apart was its approach. It wasn’t about diving straight into gameplay; it was about honing each player’s skills and strengthening...
